Maundy Thursday commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Sacred Priesthood at the Last Supper, as Our Lord prepared His Apostles for the events of His Passion. The solemn liturgy includes the traditional Washing of the Feet, recalling Christ’s humility and His command that His disciples serve one another in charity. The ceremonies draw the faithful more deeply into the mystery of the Last Supper and lead into the solemn remembrance of Our Lord’s Passion and Death.
