Dress Code at our South Florida Parish
The dress code at our South Florida Parish is as follows:
GENTLEMEN
- General Attire: Men should wear formal or semi-formal attire to show reverence and respect.
- Shirts: Long-sleeved dress shirts are preferred. Short-sleeved shirts can be acceptable in warmer climates, but they should still be collared.
- Pants: Dress slacks or trousers are required. Jeans or casual pants are discouraged.
- Shoes: Dress shoes or formal footwear should be worn. Sneakers or casual shoes are not appropriate.
Accessories:
- Men should not wear hats inside the church as a sign of respect.
1 Corinthians 11:7: "The man indeed ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and glory of God..."
- Minimal jewelry is advised to maintain a modest and respectful appearance.
LADIES
- General Attire: Women should dress modestly and elegantly, reflecting the sanctity of the church.
- Dresses/Skirts: Dresses or skirts should cover the knees, even when sitting. Sleeveless dresses should be covered with a shawl or cardigan.
- Blouses/Tops: Shoulders should be covered. Tops should not be tight-fitting or low-cut.
- Pants: Although dresses and skirts are preferred, if pants are worn, they should be dress pants and not tight-fitting.
- Veils (Head Coverings): Mantillas (lace veils) are traditional, but any modest head covering is acceptable.
1 Corinthians 11:5: "But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered, disgraceth her head: for it is all one as if she were shaven"
Accessories:
- Minimal jewelry is recommended to maintain modesty.
- Avoid excessive makeup or ostentatious hairstyles.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
Children: Should also be dressed modestly and appropriately for church. Boys should follow the dress code for men, and girls should follow the dress code for women.
Conduct: All congregants should maintain a respectful demeanor, avoiding loud conversations and unnecessary movements during the service.
Special Occasions: For events like weddings or confirmations, more formal attire is recommended, adhering to the same principles of modesty and reverence.
